About Us:
Sahara is family owned and operated by Loubna, Mohammed, and Chef Jihad.
The three of us met in the early 90s working in Downtown Denver's restaurant scene and quickly became close friends. Jihad had made a home in Denver after fleeing Lebanon's Civil War; Mohammed and Loubna had both immigrated from Morocco in the 80s separately, only to meet in Denver where they married in 1991.
After years of bonding over our shared Arab heritage and love of food, we decided to take our chances and open up our own restaurant. This was years before foods like hummus became trendy in the US, let alone mainstream. Together we worked on a shared vision: a warm space where the healthy comfort food we grew up on could be introduced to and shared with Coloradans.
Following a lot of hard work and blind faith, we opened our doors in Greenwood Village for the first time in 1993. Since then, we've prided ourselves on being family owned and operated and a part of the growing Denver community. Many of our staff and customers have been with us for decades—and we look forward to many more.
